Kids are back to school, football season is kicked off and summer Fridays are over. September is the official start to fall - full of fun seasonal events and holidays you can leverage to create engaging campaigns for your email audience. It’s fall ya’ll!

Throughout September

Official Start of Fall

As we officially kickoff fall, September marks the time when we start getting ready to bundle up for cooler temps. Banana Republic created a checklist of six essentials for every man’s fall wardrobe. Another mark of fall and cooler temps is a shift in color. Nordstrom Rack playfully suggests bold prints, deep hues and sweaters for fall. As we near the end of September layers become key. Vineyard Vines does a great job of suggesting necessary layers and ends with a fun travel tip for visiting Martha’s Vineyard in the fall.

Football Season

Football, fall, and food. No football game is complete without snacks. These three brands scored a touchdown with their football-forward campaigns. HyVee owns the day with tips, discounts and recipes to win game day. Noon kickoff? Chick-fil-A does a great job of reminding their fans about breakfast options for an early game day. And PDQ has a little pun with their platters offering a solution for football season snacking.

Labor Day

Labor Day is the unofficial last weekend of summer—barbeques, weekend getaways and sales. Minibar Delivery’s beverage pairing tips encourage consumers to be the host who knows the most. From chardonnay and oysters to burgers and larger, the brand has drink pairings for every cookout. Ready for the sales? Huckberry captures the energy of weekend trips and shopping with their subject line: “Read this in traffic”. The email cuts to the chase with plenty of discounts to occupy your road trip.

Grandparents Day

We celebrate Mom and Dad, but let’s not forget Grandma and Grandpa too. While Grandparents Day is much less widely known and celebrated, two brands captured the emotion of the day. See’s Candies pulled at our heartstrings with a sweet message for grandparents. Crayola reminds us to spend time with our Grandparents and suggests colorful activities to fill the day.

National Coffee Day

At the end the month, we celebrate National Coffee Day. Americans drink 400 million cups of coffee per day, making this a day worth celebrating. Dunkin’ captured attention by offering a “buy one, get one” deal with a caffeinated animation. Einstein Bros. Bagels drove traffic by giving a free cup of coffee with any food purchase. And, get ready, pumpkin spice is right around the corner.
